Phoebe’s Song
You came roaring into our lives covered in fairy dust and singing a “joy” song. We were family. You were our Phoebe; full of mischief and zeal I will never see again. You taught me much. You loved well. You lived out loud and to the fullest. You were a stronger and a better soul than I can ever be. You loved from the depths of your heart; in technicolor. Your love was clean and pure. Your courage was steadfast. Your honor shined like the brightest star.
Kelly is lost without you; your Doberman best friend. Phoebe, she did not eat for days when your precious soul left this earth. She knew you would not be coming home to romp with her ever again. The sadness was weeping with every beat of Kelly’s heart. She shed Doberman tears for you, Darling. We brought your babies to Kelly and her load lightened for she saw you living in your babies. She misses you, Sweetheart.
Your Dad is very sad without his best girl jumping through the air and landing in the middle of his chest with a smile and a Phoebe lick. I will never be the same. Part of me is gone. I am empty in my heart in places that used to be full. Some days I want to scream, “I can’t stand it without her” but stand it I must. Phoebe, my little heart song is gone and I can’t sing again until I see your smiling face.
Your babies, darling, are stamped through and through with your vibrant and joyous spirit. Your personality shines on each smiling whippet face. Ricky and you made some lovely whippet babies. They are my delight and my thread to sanity. They continue to sing your song. They sing it loud. They sing it true. What a wonderful Mother you were to each of the eight waggly bundles. You were so proud of your wee ones. You gave them joy, courage, and smiling faces. You were real good on the minding part, too.
Heaven is a better place for your being there for I know my world is less without you, my angel. I know you are leading your pack, smiling that Phoebe smile, and singing your “joy” song. Sing it out, Darling. I miss you with every single breath that I breath. I long to see your face and get those kisses that only were yours. Wait for me on the bridge, sweet Phoebe, please wait.
Your Mom, Melly
